Wind Down Wednesday

Posted on: January 23, 2013

Good morning! Welcome to the Wind Down Wednesday

Today I’m happy to have brother muse Michael Mandrake on the blog to talk about his inspiration behind his short in the Triad Valentine’s day anthology.

Thanks Rawiya. I do love this song by Depeche Mode. It was the inspiration behind a short I wrote for the My Sexy Valentine’s collection almost two years ago with the same title as the tune, Only When I Lose Myself. That one featured a musician who was looking for a partner and found one in a man with Aspergers  Syndrome.

Now, this one is a bit different. A paranormal with a demon named Valios looking for a lifetime mate and when he finds him, he doesn’t know how quite to react. Like the other stories in our Valentine’s Day antho, they involve two people who come together for one night with a chance at eternal happiness. However, in my story, my demons potential lover is someone who hurt him years ago. He’s not sure whether to fall in love or feel hatred.

This song encapsulates his emotions perfectly. He’s torn between two feelings. Someone who he felt hatred for due to his actions but also felt the attraction to him.

Look for our antho to come out the first week of February!
